Hello and welcome to brucesphotos.co.uk, the on-line portfolio and gallery of Bruce Ashford, an amateur photographer from Oxfordshire, England. Here you'll find examples of nearly all my photographic work, from my earliest shots with my first SLR (a Minolta 5000) right up to those from the present day. I think you'll soon see that the outdoors, and landscapes in particular, are the inspiration for my photography. Being located in Oxfordshire means that Oxford and the Oxfordshire countryside are frequent subjects but you will also find photographs taken on the South Coast, Scotland and occasionally further afield.

2012
After a long time without any updates, I've finally added "Landscape Collection 8" containing my best shots from 2011 and early 2012.
2011
Added "Landscape Collection 7". This is a small collection of shots taken during 2010. I started to use DxO Optics Pro for raw conversion during 2010. Although it's not possible see at web resolutions, I am very pleased with the additional clarity and microcontrast it achieves.
2010
I've added a new section to the website for desktop wallpapers, you can follow the link above or find it here. To get started, I've created special versions of half a dozen images in three aspect ratios. I hope to add to this list over time a suitable shots occur.
Added a few shots to "Landscape Collection 6" that were taken with Kodak's new Ektar 100. It's colours are fantastic and it's grain seems to scan very well but it still doesn't look as 'clean' as digital. I don't think there's any going back to film now, digital has come too far.
Added 22 new shots in "Landscape Collection 6". These are mostly shots taken during 2009 with a few from the tail end of 2008. As you'll see, I've moved from a Nikon D200 to a D3. The full frame sensor means that wide-angle lenses don't have to have such short focal lengths and therefore landscape shots have less distortion. For me, 2009 was about learning what I could do with the D3 and developing my post-processing skills. I'm hoping this will begin to pay dividends in 2010.
There are also a couple of new shots in the "Oxford" collection.
2008
Added "Oxford" to my Portfolio pages. Currently, this gallery contains several photographs taken in Oxford on a very sunny morning back August. I wanted to capture some of the fantastic architecture while it wasn't obscured by the many visitors Oxford attracts during the summer months. Unfortunately, the light was giving far too much contrast so I didn't get all the shots I was after. I plan to add to this collection as in the coming months.
I've finally added "Landscape Collection 5" to my Portfolio pages. This collection contains photographs from Stowe Landscape Gardens (in Buckinghamshire) taken last Autumn, some spring-time pictures from around Oxfordshire and some shots from the South Coast this summer.

Also, I've sorted some bugs in my page templates to make sure content is XHTML compatible. Added W3C icons.
I've just added "Landscape Collection 4". These photographs are from my first year with a Digital SLR, a Nikon D200.
Added "Landscape Collection 3". There are now also two new password protected gallaries for photographs of family and friends.
